STEWARDSHIP
Safe Harbor MCC is diligent about using our gifts of time, talent, and treasure responsibly and for the greater good. We do the same - and more - with gifts from supporters beyond our church.
We embrace GRATITUDE as our foundation of Stewardship and ACCOUNTABILITY as a welcome companion to how gifts are used.
What is Stewardship?
Simply put, Stewardship refers to how we use the gifts of time, talent, and treasure to Create Opportunities for Belonging. We recognize the overwhelming gift of life, of community, of this church, of our shared property, and of the any opportunities we have to be of service to our best understanding of Christ Jesus' leading. We embrace a few guiding principles for the stewardship of resources:
01
As much as possible, we operate debt-free.
02
We have plenty to be grateful for and we practice gratitude.
03
Our resources are to be used, not to be stored away
04
We budget based on what we can support, everything else is OPPORTUNITY to serve!
Planning 2gether
For any organization, planning an annual budget based on what we can collectively rely on in tithes and offerings. To that end, we take care to be consistent individually and spend wisely collectively. Our budget is set annually and is directly informed by our church income in the previous year. Our church sets our next year's budget between October and December each year.
Accountability
Our Board of Trustees reviews spending on a monthly basis. Our Treasurer, in conjunction with a bookkeeper, reviews both income and expense and aids the board by advising on income projections. Monthly financials are available to church members.
